La Araucana se anunció como una superproducción de ambiciosas proyecciones internacionales. La historia abarca desde el momento en que Valdivia sale de El Cuzco en Enero de 1540 hasta la batalla de Tucapel, describiendo en detalle el romance del español con Doña Inés de Suarez. El rodaje fue ampliamente reporteado y publicitado, creándose grandes expectativas para el estreno. Desafortunadamente, los resultados no estuvieron a la altura de las intenciones. The Araucana was touted as a superproduction with ambitious international projections. The story begins from the moment Valdivia left Cuzco [Peru] in January of 1540 and ends with the Battle of Tucapel, detailing the Spaniard's romance with Doña Inés de Suarez. The film production was widely reported on and publicized, creating high hopes for the premiere. Unfortunately, the results did not match these expectations. Faced with much negative criticism, La Araucana failed to convince as a well crafted cinematic work. (Translated by Andrew Toth)
