Narra parte de la historia de Martin González Calderón, miembro del pueblo Yagan, quien vuelve a adentrarse a su maritorio a bordo de la embarcación "Pepe II". Martín creció entre los cientos de canales e islas que su pueblo habitó durante más de 6000 años. Esta tradición, libre y navegante, fue prohibida. Tras 40 años prepara una nueva travesía, buscando legar su gran sabiduría sobre el territorio y su cultura. El documental es una interesante pieza que nos permite entrever el estado actual de una comunidad indígena que permanece y persiste con sus prácticas culturales a través del tiempo, a pesar de las vicisitudes acaecidas desde la llegada del hombre blanco al territorio. Es interesante ver cómo los yaganes continúan con sus prácticas ancestrales, cambiando y adaptándose a los tiempos que corren en la actualidad. Nos manifiestan que a pesar de las múltiples restricciones que el Estado les ha impuesto, hay conocimientos y saberes que permanecen y deben seguir siendo resguardados y enseñados. The film tells part of the story of Martin González Calderón, a member of the Yagan people who returns to his maritorium (territory from and on the sea) aboard his boat, "Pepe II". Martin grew up among the hundreds of channels and islands that his people have inhabited for more than 6,000 years until this free, navigating tradition was prohibited. 40 years later, he prepares for a new sailing expedition, looking to bequeath his expansive wisdom about this territory and culture. This documentary allows us to glimpse the current state of a living indigenous community whose cultural practices have persisted through time, despite the difficulties that arose with the arrival of white men to their territory. It is interesting to see how the Yagan people continue their ancestral practices, changing and adapting to modern times. They show us that despite the multiple restrictions that the government has imposed, there is knowledge and wisdom that persists and should be maintained and taught to future generations.
