In 1988, Chilean military dictator Augusto Pinochet, due to international pressure, is forced to call a plebiscite on his presidency. The country will vote YES or NO to Pinochet extending his rule for another eight years. Opposition leaders of the NO vote persuade a brash young advertising executive, René Saavedra (Gael García Bernal), to spearhead their campaign. Against all odds, with scant resources and under scrutiny by the despot's minions, Saavedra and his team devise an audacious plan to win the election and set Chile free. (DVD container)
En 1988, el dictador militar chileno Augusto Pinochet, debido a la presión internacional, se ve obligado a convocar un plebiscito en su presidencia. El país votará SI o NO a Pinochet extendiendo su reinado por ocho años más. Los líderes de la oposición del voto NO convencen a René Saavedra (Gael García Bernal), un joven ejecutivo publicitario impetuoso, a encabezar su campaña. Contra todo pronóstico, con escasos recursos y bajo el escrutinio de los secuaces del déspota, Saavedra y su equipo inventan a un audaz plan para ganar las elecciones y liberar a Chile.
