Remote Learning Resources

remotelearning

The COVID-19 crisis created new and unexpected realities for educators and scholars. On this page, you will find a variety of resources to help support virtual or remote learning.

Our syllabi collection has been updated with teaching resources that have been modified for remote learning. You can browse the collection or jump directly to course syllabi that were modified for online course delivery during the 2020-2021 academic year.

Guest Speakers: Virtual class visits provide unique opportunities to creatively engage students during remote learning and offer them first-hand access to scholars, authors, and filmmakers whose work they are studying. Cinegogía maintains a list of Latin American film scholars who have expressed interest in making virtual visits to undergraduate and graduate classrooms, as well as their thematic area(s), countries of expertise and language(s) of presentation. Details regarding availability, scheduling, honorarium, and platforms should be discussed directly with the guest speaker.

Below are several resources that have been made available for streaming and accessing Latin American films online. Other suggestions? Please share them here.

  • Pragda Virtual Film Festivals: Pragda's Spanish Film Club has successfully adapted its format to cope with the repercussions of COVID-19 by creating its own streaming platform to host Virtual Spanish Film Club festivals. Each university will have access to a password-protected webpage containing detailed information on its selected films and providing streaming access to the films for a week. The page has customizable fields for universities to add their general festival details such as name, festival dates, theme, and specific screening and presentation details such as virtual watch parties, virtual introductions, panel discussions, and Q&As.
  • Cinema Tropical: In light of the global pandemic, Cinema Tropical is committed to create new and flexible initiatives to provide meaningful, relevant, and inspiring content during these adverse times. As numerous filmmakers and platforms are making available content online during the emergency, we're starting a new section in our TropicalFRONT blog recommending a different film per day to watch for free online.
