Santa y Andrés es una película que transcurre en el Oriente de Cuba, a principios de los años 80. Es la historia de la relación que surge entre dos personas que, aparentemente son muy distintas, pero que poco a poco se van percatando que las cosas que los unen son más importantes que las que los separan. Santa es una solitaria campesina que es enviada a vigilar a Andrés, un escritor homosexual, que no le inspira “confianza” a la Revolución; y a lo largo de estos días de vigilancia, entre los dos ocurre algo. Santa y Andrés takes place in eastern Cuba during the beginning of the 1980s. The film is the story of a relationship that develops between two people who appear very different yet, little by little, find that the things that unite them are more important than those which separate them. Santa is a lonely peasant who is sent by the Cuban government to watch over Andrés. Andrés is a homosexual writer who does not support the revolution and is consequently on house arrest. During the long days of surveillance, something happens between the two characters. A unique friendship is created. (Translated by Sarah Shorter)
